Hamdi Mohamed Issa

Dr Hamdi Issa is a freelance health consultant supporting projects in the field of global health, sexual reproductive health, health partnerships and quality care. She is a former Director of Community Health Services at the Ministry of Health Development in Somaliland where she provided technical and programmatic leadership to strengthen community health systems. She has previously led the design, implementation and evaluation of the first national quality care and patient safety initiative in Somaliland. She is member of the International Technical Advisory Group reviewing WHO’s Infection Prevention Control course material for low and middle income countries. She has held health policy, academia and research roles both in the UK and Somaliland and published several papers in the space of mutual learning, international health partnerships and reverse innovation. She holds a PhD in Global Health and a Masters in Public Health both from Imperial College London, and a BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science from University College London.
