Omar Abdulaziz Albassam

Eng. Albassam began his career with Saudi Aramco as an Engineer more than 15 years ago. Throughout his experience, he had various field assignments at different downstream and upstream onshore and offshore hydrocarbon facilities assuming diverse technical engineering and operational roles. In 2017, he started his first leadership role as Loss Prevention Supervisor at Ras Tanura area where he was responsible to work with several facilities to implement Safety Management System and provide field technical loss prevention services. Later, he started assuming division head roles within Loss Prevention at different regions. In 2019, he was assigned to handle a leadership role in Planning & Performance Management where he was responsible for budgeting and business planning. In 2021, he moved again to Ras Tanura Refinery as Division Head of Engineering Support Division where he was responsible to drive implementation of assets integrity program, assets integrity inspection function, environmental compliance, energy efficiency program, system automation and control. Currently, he is the manager of Abqaiq Area Loss Prevention where he serves an organization of more than 40 safety engineers providing technical services related to safety to many hydrocarbon facilities, construction sites, non-hydrocarbon facilities including camps and medical facilities. Omar holds B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals and M.S. degree in Reliability Engineering from University of Maryland College Park. Omar has successfully obtained several technical certifications from NEBOSH, NFPA, and AIChE and other international agencies. He successfully completed several leadership programs, among which at Harvard Business School and Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
